The readiness of the U.S. Army highlighted as a top priority by the Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley has clearly resonated with subordinate Army Commands such as the U.S. Army Material Command (AMC) and Operational Commands such as U.S. Army Europe and U.S. Army Korea among others.
General Gus Perna, Commanding General, AMC addressed this issue with CTG at last year’s AUSA Annual Meeting and again at the AUSA Global Force Symposium in Huntsville this past March 2017. GEN Perna stated: “We have a problem with material availability. I have a clear concern for sourcing parts for legacy systems”. In a subsequent conversation with MG Steve Shapiro at AUSA Global Force Symposium, while serving as AMC G3/4; he asked: “Can CTG provide this [Material Availability] solution at the Army operational level”?
Working with the 21st Theater Support Command (TSC) in the U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) Theater of Operations, CTG has responded to this challenge by providing Material Availability solutions to both assigned USAREUR units and units deployed as part of Operation ATLANTIC RESOLVE (OAR). Additionally, after meeting with LTG Tom Vandal of Eighth Army, Korea, at AUSA LANPAC this past May, CTG provided the Eighth Army G4 a proposal to provide Material Availability solutions to that Theater of Operations in support of operational readiness challenges
While working with the U.S. Army to provide Service solutions, CTG is also working with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to find Material Availability solutions for long lead time and low density demand parts and components solving readiness issues across the Department of Defense (DOD). We continue to expand our efforts with a focus on FORSCOM units in order to support and improve the operational readiness of existing Army equipment, much of which is legacy equipment with extended life cycles.
At CTG, we understand the importance of operational readiness for the U.S. Army. CTG stands ready to support the Warfighters and operational forces in this incredibly important effort for the security of our Nation.
